‘Peace Be With You’ by Patricia Mitchell

Commissioned by the award winning garden architect and horticulturist, Chris Beardshaw

Myeloma UK - A Life Worth Living Garden

Awarded RHS Gold Medal and RHS People’s Choice Award

It was an honour to collaborate with Chris Beardshaw who commissioned ‘Peace Be With You’ for the Royal Horticultural Society’s annual Chelsea Flower Show 2023. It has been such an exciting project to be a part of. ‘Peace Be With You’ was on display within a temple as part of the magnificent garden Myeloma UK - A Life Worth Living Garden which was generously funded by Project Giving Back.

The opulent emerald and gold paper sculpture was created with symbolic meaning starting with layering gold-leaf paper flowers, leaves and branches to provide an ethereal connection between the garden and the piece itself. The faux malachite paint finish with layers of crushed gold leaf is an exciting venture which I recently explored. This was a new technique that I learnt by joining a master class taught by Roger Newton and Kate Elwell collectively known as Master The Art.
