“I am going to make everything around me beautiful - that will be my life.”
— Elsie de Wolfe
My Story
Drawing inspiration I gained through extensive travels and conservation work in Africa, my love of nature, botany, global culture and tradition clearly resonates through my work as a mixed media artist.
Clients present me with personal memories from which I design bespoke pieces of art. Shadow and depth within my artwork are formed by an eclectic mix of silhouettes made from hand painted paper. My sculptures cleverly intertwine family memories with botanical and zoological features creating a paradisal window for interiors that preserves and treasures memories in a unique way.
Through my use of paper design, my art mixes traditional and contemporary elements whilst emulating and preserving the pure beauty of the decorative style of the room. These pieces can be painted to compliment clients' interiors, providing a framed window of nature that contains a paradise within.
I am currently based in rural Hampshire, where I live with my husband, daughter, an oversized Labrador and a cat that thinks she is a dog.

My Studio
When I come to this little haven at the bottom of our garden, the world outside disappears. Those precious hours in my studio are where I find peace. I can release my imagination and sink into a papery world of memories encapsulated in tiny paper sculptures. I watch the sun sink into the Nile as I drift downstream on an Egyptian Felucca; whales breaching in the Pacific Ocean; I feel the thunder and thrill of racehorses galloping on a Kentucky racetrack. I am often by a watering hole in Africa, watching elephants, zebras, and giraffes drink from the cooling water as hippos puff and snort in the mud.
My studio holds many magical memories that my clients have lent to me. One of the best things about my job is that I can explore the world through their eyes.

Travels
My love of globetrotting began in Africa. In 1999 travelled to South Africa and drove 14,500 miles across the country. That sense of wilderness and scale of nature changed me, and I have never lost the pull to return to Africa and explore the world beyond. I have worked in Kenya with the Born Free Foundation, canoed along the Fish River Canyon in Namibia and trekked through the rainforests of Sri Lanka and Thailand.
I have a deeply rooted love of lying under palm trees and watching the sea lapping on the shore.
