THE HAPPIEST OF DAYS: working in my studio and listening to heavy rain beating down on the roof. Such a wonderful sound plus our new trees are getting a really good water. I’d quite like it to rain heavily for at least another 10 days infact. Meanwhile, I have been creating a Pangolin with a very special twist. Incorporating twenty nine gold leafed scales, each one representing a year of marriage and the last four, my clients children. This very large beauty will be heading off to Spain within a few weeks. Following that, my head will firmly be in Hong Kong for a while, followed by a ‘large window’ narrating a story of a very active family life in the Swiss Alps - to reside in a beautiful chalet. Where to after that I wonder?

RED & GOLD: Today has been interesting to say the least. From cutting out pangolin scales (their eventual home being Spain) to piecing together three colour sample boards which are heading up to Scotland tomorrow. The subject shown here won’t give the game away - it’s a new and exciting country for me to explore. As soon as the new pieces are ready - you are welcome to come and take this extraordinary journey with me. And ....... this country will be .......... 🤔

CHARITABLE SALE OF INDIAN LIFE: This Indian themed sculpture is available at @nadiawaterfieldfineart. 10% of the sale of this piece will be donated to @thebritishasiantrust who are currently running an emergency appeal to help send valuable medical supplies to India. Measuring 100cm x 100cm, it certainly is a statement piece comprising 100’s of tiny gold leafed layered paper cut silhouettes narrating a very special story of Indian life. This sculpture is a golden theatre of wonder and certainly makes one stop and look and then look again, again and again - always finding a new adventure hidden in every square inch. Nadia’s beautiful exhibition is on until 15th May.

TIME TO START THE WEEKEND: Ending the week on a high thank goodness. Am really pleased with these two bee samples. Although they are 27cmsq, and made of paper and gold leaf, I have been planning how I can translate this design into large metal sculptures. Currently in talks with a fabrication factory, choosing metal next week with a view to getting these cut on their monster machine together with a matching metal mount board. I will then wave my wand and distress them with gold and any colour required. Then back to the factory for the whole lot to be welded. Do you like them? Imagine with the correct lighting - - a long passage of insects - bees, dragonflies, beetles, butterflies ...... wow. What do you think? KITTEN WILLOW - THE SCENE STEALER: today was a big day. The filming of the show reel. I am no TV presenter, nor have the Holly Willoughby factor so I am hoping that this 2-3 minute reel will do my work justice without the worry of people talking about how much weight I’ve put on over the last year (I will admit that I have an out of control thyroid, but hoping the new LT dose will help lose the excess). Doing something like this can either crush or elevate self confidence. At the end of the day, there is always going to be a huge amount of ‘I should have, I wish I’d done, why did I’ etc but with the professionalism of @4k_media_limited I am totally confident that the very talented James will pull together something really amazing. He is so easy to work with. Highly recommend btw. Websites for artists I feel are becoming a difficult PR tools. With a show reel at least clients can have a real visual of who you are and what makes you tick. It’s relatable PR, and puts ones work in a much better light. This reel will be sent out in a newsletter to my mailing list, on IGTV, LinkedIn, Facebook and to prospective clients, galleries and consultants. A moving image verses a static one? I know what I’d rather look at. I have a year to prepare for the next reel. Note to self: prepare and rehearse 20 sentences for voice over......
